The living beings that surround us and with which we come into contact are made up of billions of cells.
But beyond the visible, behind each Man, animal or plant, hide an infinity of microorganisms with which
we coexist. Unicellular and completely invisible to the naked eye,
some are free and colonize different ecosystems, while others prefer to live an intimate relationship
with a larger host. Together, they make up the microbiota.
The microbiota is not incidental: of its balance
depends on the good health of the host with which it is associated!
The microbiota of a plant is extremely rich and distributed both outside and inside it. Depending on the microorganisms considered, we can differentiate between the rhizosphere microbiota (microorganisms interacting with the plant's root system), from the phyllosphere microbiota (microorganisms interacting with the aerial parts of the plant).
At the level of the rhizosphere (area surrounding the root system of the plant), a rich and varied microbial community develops, made up of bacteria and fungi, some species of which are known to promote growth. Invisible but so numerous, their impact is colossal on the life of the soil: they structure it, participate in nutrient cycles and co-build relationships with the plants that develop there.
